1st entry of 2012

This January and February will be busy months for me because I'm in my final year of Poly. I'm so caught up with projects and assignments so I am updating this little space now only. Time passes so fast. I still remember the day when I collected my O'level results, I was shedding tears of joy because my results were really unexpected. Now, I'm in year 3 already whoa!

This year, I will be entering the 20-ish phase of my life. So scary! I'm entering adulthood soon and yet, I am still unsure of my future goals and all. 2 months later and I will be graduating.. I really need to start thinking already!

That aside, I am addicted to 9gag. WHO ELSE AGREES? 9gag is now my daily source of entertainment :) Go download 9gagReader on mobile if you have not! This app is so great to kill time when you're in the bus, chilling, slacking..whatever. I love all the memes. So adorable hehe!

When I'm free, I'm probably going to do a before & after photoshop post! I'm no expert on photoshop but I enjoy the editing because it is fun and you can put your creativity to use :D

Hong Kong + Shen Zhen Study Trip

This is an extremely outdated post but I'm still going to blog so that I will not forget about this in the future! I can't remember every single detail of it and I know that I totally should have blogged about this way before! Now, I make it a point to blog about my life so that I can look back at those memories and :)

I went to Hong Kong + Shenzhen for a 8 day study trip back in June. I was extremely excited because this was my first time in 11 years to go overseas. I have not been overseas (not even Malaysia) for such a long time.

Day 1

I was so glad that I did not experience any motion sickness. When I was young, whenever I was in a coach or on a plane, I will feel like shit because of the terrible motion sickness.

I was in HK for 3 days, 2 nights.

Ladies Market:

so much food and all looked so delicious! I had this sore throat (so unlucky) but I still went ahead to eat those fried foods. I will not be daunted by the damn sore throat!!

Curry fishballs!!

I always see this in hongkong dramas so I definitely have to try this. It did not really taste like fishballs though :/ Very spicy! Some time after I went back to Singapore, I was so happy that West Mall had a food fair and they sold these ^^

This is a tourist hotspot so the things aren't really cheap. A pair of sunglasses cost $10. There were lots of brand imitations. For example, you can get a fake CDG shirt for $30.

We went to Victoria Peak at night.

Day 2

There were so much food that we were unable to finish. I love the porridge and the har gow best!

Went to this temple too..

We were all so hot and to add on to the crazy heat, we were wearing jeans.

We were given some time to explore the temple but we were idling around because there wasn't much to do at the temple anyway.

Lunch:

everyone took photo of the duck's head! Saddistic.. The duck meat seemed very hard to bite.. there was this "stringy' texture.. like the muscle tendons cannot break like that -.-

Didn't expect so much food to be served!

If I remembered correctly, we went to Disneyland after lunch or sth.

There was a change of plan in the itinerary so it was rather impromptu. We were not in the attire we had planned to wear there. Jeans in hot weather = no-no.

I was SO freaking excited to enter disneyland! It's like a dream come true!

we stayed at the souvenir shops for a very long time because everything was so pretty and we had a hard time deciding how we should spend our limited money. We were spoilt for choice!

I was the one controlling the height and the girls were shocked when I suddenly elevated it ._. The higher the more fun but they seemed to disagree.

This is an indoor roller coaster. SO FUN OMFG!!

super unglam but I'm still posting this up because IT IS SO FUNNY. I was rather scared at first but when I was on the ride, it was so so so so so fun I could not stop beaming with happiness. The woman in front was sitting with her son (too short can't see -.-) and the man beside me is her husband. Just look at how calm their faces were! I was smiling when the camera flashed at us - caught off guard lolol

I wanted to sit this again but the girls were too scared aah!

watched a musical after that. whole theatre was flooded with people and some even had to stand because of the lack of seats.

There were still quite a number of places we did not go to (and I thought we went already ): What a pity!) so when we saw this, we quickly went in to take the ride.

We had to go back to the lockers to collect the rest of our loots and we were already late for the meeting time so we ran and sweated like crazy. When we got on the bus, the people who saw the amount of plastic bags we were carrying went like WOAHH~~! We had about 5-6 hours at Disneyland but it's not enough!

After some shopping, we took the train back to our panda hotel with other friends. We had a lights out time so we had to reach the hotel back by a specific time. We made it back just in time *phew*

Day 4: HK/SZ

Next morning, we took coach to Shen Zhen.

Had to fill in this form. So foreigners are referred to as aliens. China, you serious?

So far, this sounds like a leisure trip right? We did went to companies too, just that I did not take any photos and I can't remember ._.

We had dinner at a Japanese restaurant. This is supposed to be the largest Jap restaurant in Asia. I absolutely love the ambience. We had one whole room to ourselves :)

Day 5

Unlike Singapore, the roads in SZ has so many lanes! The bus even did U-turns #likeaboss.

I LOVE THIS PLACE SO BAD.

Unfortunately, we had very little time there only so they gave us 2 options - stay at Dong Men and forgo the dinner provided or leave Dong Men to have dinner.

We went to have dinner!

We only filled half of the table so we had a lot of food to ourselves! One of the best dinners during our stay there! Food was good.

Say HELLO to the mega huge bear that I got from Dong Men! Less than $50 only!!

Day 6

After lunch, we went to SZ polytechnic .

Love this mango slushie from NICC. NICC is started up by this young entrepreneur from SZ Poly. The snacks by NICC are nice too. I am missing it right now T.T

Dinner at this really ulu restaurant. I wonder why they always serve dried prawns at almost every meal :S

Day 7

the 2nd last day: Last dinner with the new friends we made at the Poly ^^

The next day, we had lunch at the same restaurant. Almost same dishes too =.=

After dinner, we hurried off to Dong Men to shop again. There was this one day where we went to Dong Men for about half an hour (took cab there) just to shop!! The teachers told us that they trust us and they would not give us any strict curfew that night so we all chionged there. It was rather late so the shops were closing already ):

we packed KFC back to our hotel. Prawn patty burger and chicken nuggets. WHAT? It is rather cheap too and not available in Singapore.

Day 8

Last day:

we left in 2 groups. The earlier group left for Singapore in the morning while we went back in the afternoon. We headed to the nearby supermarket to stock up on Pejoys. Love!

It was a tiring journey taking the coach back to hongkong and then to the airport. We were lucky that we had time to do some shopping at the airport. Everyone was buying lao po bing back. The earlier group almost missed their flight!

By the time I reached Singapore, it was midnight already. When the plane landed in Singapore, we were all busy trying to get internet connection - internet-deprived for days!

Now I'm missing disneyland and Dong Men so badly!! I definitely must go back again! I'm so glad I went for this study trip :)

Contact lenses/Makeup - Before & After

This is a post of before and after pictures of me with my contact lenses and makeup. Cosmetic lenses and makeup can really change your looks so much!

First up!

Geo Black (14mm)

I have been wearing this for years. After the first wear, I became addicted to it and I could not stop wearing it -.- Circle lenses can indeed make a significant difference to your looks.

I stock up lots of black in the past because it makes my eyes look more natural than the other colours. But obviously, it is still noticeable to other people that it is circle lenses.

Bambi Green (16mm)

When I first wore this, I was really not used to it because the lens I've always been wearing is 14mm and this is really huge for my eyes. I felt that I looked like a bug and I kind of regretted. After a few wears, I got used to it and I am loving the green so much.

this is my first time trying on green lenses too.

For those of you who have not tried colour lenses before, let me tell you this.. once you try it on, THERE IS NO TURNING BACK. You will feel that you look so cui without coloured/magic lenses. That is what happened to me T.T Whenever I wear spectacles or coloured lenses, I will convince myself of the spotlight effect.

Well, the spotlight effect states that you believe everyone is noticing about your appearance.etc but actually, everyone else is also busy bothering about their own appearances. In fact, no one notices you as much as you think! This is really very true.

So people, whenever you feel insecure or have low confidence about your looks because you think that people will look at you and go EEEW, think about the spotlight effect!

Now for the *coughs* natural *ahem* beauty part..

I looked so different - no makeup, no lenses.

This is one of the few pictures I've got without lenses. The reason why I take such photos (e.g. the clear sponsored review) is because I am too lazy to wear my lenses just to take nice photos! -,-

Just putting on the lenses can make such a mega huge difference!!

Those who said that natural beauty is best are obviously bullshitting. If that is the case, the cosmetic industry would not be so profitable already. Make-up artists will be out of job. Brides do not need to put on any makeup.etc

I have no makeup on for all the pictures except the picture with green lenses where I smacked some lip gloss on. Makeup DOES wonders! Even a simple thing like lipgloss can make you look better yes. I don't know if it is a blessing or a curse to not know how to put on foundation and other makeup other than eyeliner and lipstick/lipgloss. I feel that if I put foundation, my face will be in gross patches and when I sweat, I will look like a wreck. That aside, I believe that foundation is not good for the skin because the skin can't breathe. Correct me if I am wrong.

Due to my noob skills, I always have this boring look as I only put on winged eyeliner everytime I wear makeup. Plus, being lazy is another factor why I don't put make-up at times. I have tried putting on eyeshadow before but it just looked really wrong in pictures. Think o p e r a.

Yes people, looks are INDEED deceiving. Never judge a book by its cover. These days, it is so hard to find someone that is good-looking by nature. Ah, good genes.

Edit: My mistake! Bambi is 15mm (OMG) and I already look like I have 'bug eyes'. Why do 18-20mm lenses even exist? I seriously can't imagine a typical asian wearing it -gasp-

Home For Christmas

This blog post will be the last update for Christmas! Actually, I have not seen the christmas lights at Town yet..-.-

Firstly, thank you Stephen for inviting us to Home for Christmas by City Harvest Church at Suntec Convention Centre. We went there on Christmas Eve, 24th december.

The top that I'm wearing is from ASOS. It is actually a guy's top but I like it so I bought it. I have been doing a lot of shopping from ASOS recently. Who can resist the FREE shipping worldwide? Definitely not me!

Due to the massive shopping I've done, I've decided that all these shall be my new year clothings so no more new year shopping when the new year begins! The amount in my bank is depleting because I have been spending a lot yet neglect my blogshop at the same time. I promise I will start working on my blogshop after I graduate! Then again, no one will remember it already. Hope there are still loyal customers around.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas people! Ho ho ho!

This Christmas, CC and I went to a cozy little restaurant situated at Bukit Timah for our xmas dinner. It is a tradition for us to have a Christmas dinner together every year :)

We went on the 23rd as it was the only night the christmas carolers will come in, plus it is not exactly wise to fight for a parking lot or squeeze with the crowd on Christmas day itself.

Aww!

We had the christmas special 5-course dinner set. There was no GST so that saved us a bit of $.

First up..!

Avocado Crabmeat Salad

This is a mixture of diced avocado, crabmeat and garden green tossed with lime mustard dressing. It is a rather refreshing appetizer that will whet your appetite.

Crocodile Consomme

This is my second time trying crocodile soup. This clear rich crocodile broth is garnished with quenelle of foie gras and pistachio but I could barely taste the quenelle. That aside, this is still good stuff!

Lime Sorbet

Because of the rather strong taste of the crocodile broth, this lime sorbet is to freshen your palate.

CC agreed that the presentation of this is very creative. How often do you see dry ice as part of a dish presentation?

For the main course, we can choose either Beef Wellington, Roast Turkey or Honey Baked Ham.

Roast Turkey with Stuffing

I chose the Turkey because I am not a fan of beef and ham seems a tad too ordinary. The turkey meat is tender and it goes well with the cranberry sauce. This dish, however, did not win me over.

Beef Wellington

beef tenderloin rolled with puff pastry served with mushroom, bacon and chicken liver~ Ah! Brillant. I should have taken a picture of how it looked like inside. I like this even though I am not a beef lover. CC let me try the meat near the outer part with the pastry which was more cooked. It was really juicy and good. The middle part looked too raw for me and I was turned off by its looks even though I believe genuinely that it would taste really good. Too bad for me.

Chocolate Lava Cake

As a chocolate lover, I absolutely love the chocolate lava. Warm chocolate and it just tasted so good!

I am sure Christmas Day is not just a day for Christians to celebrate Jesus's birthday, but rather a festive of giving with goodwill. It also creates an opportunity to bring families and friends together for a meal or celebration. The exchanges of gifts are interesting and fun too!

Day #2

We had really little sleep (about 4 hours) but we still dragged ourselves out of bed for the Hotel's buffet breakfast.

The buffet had a large variety of food to choose from. I wish my stomach had the space to accomodate everything! The egg section had the most queue. Always. You can have your eggs done in omelette style, scrambled,etc we were so spoilt for choice.

After this, we had a mini break nearby and some of us bought ice-cream from the provision shop. We headed off to KLCC after!

KLCC is right in the middle of the twin tower. It houses quite a number of luxury and high-street brands.

I was surprised that Zouk is somewhere near the twin tower.

I heard from the tour guide that you'd need to queue up as early as 3 a.m to get tickets up there. Whoa!! Bloggers, lets go there together someday haha :P

The view at the top must be really breathtaking and spectacular.

The bloggers were told to gather at 2.00 p.m outside the mall if they want to carry on with Discovering Malaysia Part II (going to the national mosque), however I don't think anyone went ahead with it -.-

Had lunch with Xue Ling and Jaslyn at this casual dining restaurant called Ben's.

The food's reasonably priced and relatively affordable.

After our meal, we joined the other nuffies and made our way by foot to the Sungai district. If I'm not wrong, we went to Sungai Wang. The shopping mall reminded me a lot of Singapore's Bugis Village. The clothes, the pricing.etc were all very similar to that of Bugis Village.

Funny thing was, the 3 of us bought a lot of food instead of clothes. We were lugging bags of food like aunties. As quoted by Jaslyn, I'm "sitting on air" LOL!

I was really sitting in a relaxed pose (even crossing my legs =.=) hahaha. Check out our bubble teas on the floor! I was desperately finding bubble tea shops but I was not able to find so I ended up purchasing this ying yong bubble tea from this taiwan cafe. I did not really like it. Guess what? When we headed down to the basement, I spotted at least 2 bubble tea shops. Major regret!!! The BBTs looked really yummy. What a waste ):

got this really cute Hello Kitty slippers for Wendy. So cute right? I should have gotten a pair for myself too!

We bought these pens too and were choosing them like tourists LOL! XL bought 9 and I got 6 only!

When it was near evening, we made our way to Pavilion for dinner.

Very crowded! I reckoned everyone's doing their last minute Christmas shopping?

It's quite an atas mall, again, all the luxury brands everywhere... There were supposed to be dinner vouchers at Food Republic (atas food court okay!) for us however it took a really long time for them to deliver it so we gave up and went ahead without it. Initially, we wanted to eat at the tokyo street upstairs however there was not much time left. In the end, dinner time was extended by 45 minutes and we ended up eating at Food Republic.

After dinner at 9+ p.m., we headed to G-Tower for some drinks.

We made our way up to the 29th floor. Apparently, the age limit is 21 but we managed to go in *phew* Only at times like these do I feel young :')

Thank goodness the bus came early to fetch us back to the hotel at 11+ p.m.

I was freaking out because my eyes looked extremely bloodshot ever since 8+p.m. I thought the blood vessels in my eyeballs were going to burst and I was going to cry blood. Unfortunately, the redness persisted till the next morning and I was too scared to put on my contacts so I wore my glasses.

This trip is indeed an *eye-opener* because everyone has seen me in all my "stages"
1) with make-up
2) without make-up with specs
3) without make-up without specs

Looking back at the NAPBAS photos, I was horrified to see how different I looked like with and without specs, with and without make-up -.-

After reaching the hotel, I rushed up to my room (so thankful it is near the lift!) to take out my contact lens. I had a bath in the bathtub after that. The bubble bath attempt failed. I am lost at how to create bubble baths and foams ):

After our baths, we laid on the bed and watched Confessions of a Shopaholic together. At about 2.00 a.m after the movie ended, we headed down to the main lobby to take advantage of the free public wi-fi. We spotted HP downstairs with the same intention LOL! We updated our twitter and checked our social media before heading back to the hotel room to rest for the night.

Day #3

We had breakfast at the hotel and then went back to our rooms to pack up for checkout at 12 p.m. XL took a boiled egg from the breakfast buffet for me to rub on my forehead bruise. The egg was so hot that we dropped it on our way up and it cracked. I always wondered if the egg would really turn black after rubbing on a bruise, but it didn't!

Overall, I really enjoyed the NAPBAS trip and I definitely can't wait for the next one which will be happening 2 years later! It was great to see familiar faces again and also make new friends. This is what I love about blogging!

Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 2011 (Day 1)

Nuffnangers from all across Asia-Pacific come together in KL, Malaysia on the 16th December for the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards which is held once every 2 years.

The SG bloggers met at Nuffnang's office early in the morning at 8.30 a.m to set off together. It is so great to meet the nuffies again. The coach left at 9 a.m sharp (I checked my watch) as stated, cool huh? It was an extremely long ride of about 5 hours and we all dozed off in the coach. Of course, we had a break in between the whole journey. I had this chocolate biscuit waffle, a cup of really salty corn and mango fruits!

As I was sitting near the window in the bus, my head kept falling to the left and right (I was dozing) and when it tilted to the left, it hit the window several times. Now I have a bruise on my forehead [it is still there after so many days ):]

When we finally reached KL, the coach drove passed our destination and went to the wrong direction before U-turning back so we wasted quite a bit of time there. By the time we arrived at the hotel, it was already almost 5pm and we were worrying if there was enough time for us to prepare since registration starts for the NABPAS starts at 6.30 p.m.! Thank goodness they extended the registration time to 7.00 p.m.

when we saw the exterior of the hotel, we all went "WOAHHH!". It looks so grand!

The singapore bloggers gathered at the main lobby while waiting to get the room cards. There was a public wi-fi area and everybody was busy taking out their phones to take advantage of the free wi-fi. We bloggers need to tweet away and update our social media haha. We can't live without wi-fi, definitely!

After the room settlement, we headed to our room!! I was so lucky to get the room near the lift because it's just so convenient! I bunked with Xueling and we had a king sized bed to ourselves. Some had twin sharing while some had the king size bed.

The moment we went in, we messed up the bed already. Too tired! 6 pillows. 3 each for us! I felt like i was in a bed of fluff. Love!!

Some of us went to Christina's room to have our makeup done. We all trust the makeup guru hehe ^^ Because I'm such a noob at makeup and I only know how to apply eyeliner and lipgloss/lipstick, Christina helped me to put on the falsies. She is REALLY GOOD!! The falsies were so secured that I did not feel uncomfortable for fear that it may fall off halfway. Although my eyes were stinging after application, they got used to it after a while. Phew!

Throughout the dinner, we were being entertained by the emcees and performances. The winners of each categories were also announced. Much excitement filled the place and there were loud applauses and cheers when each winner was announced. Congratulations to all the winners of NAPBAS!! Everyone was awesome but there is only one place for the winner. I think that it is really a great achievement to even be included as one of the nominees. Thumbs up bloggers!

Blogging is an awesome profession, indeed!

Once again, Xiaxue got Region's Best Blog award. She also clinched the Most Influential Blog award! She was trying to hold back her tears while making her speech up on stage as she expressed her appreciation to the voters.

Sidetrack a bit: I did a free skin analysis with NY skin solutions today and they said that my skin's very thin and sensitive. That explains why I get red so easily. Oic.

The shuttle bus came to fetch us at 2.45 a.m. back to the hotel. I felt so shag as it was a really long day since early in the morning. We were all dead tired when we reached the hotel at 3+ a.m. I reeked strongly of smoke and it was so gross because I was too tired to wash my hair. No offense to smokers out there!

The next day, Nuffnang had a tour itinerary planned out for us :') The wake-up call was at 8.00 a.m and I wondered how I would be able to wake up....

I will blog about NAPBAS day 2 and 3 in another post else it will be too overwhelming!

Overall, I really enjoy day 1. NAPBAS is really awesome and I feel so honored to be able to attend this event. It is really nice meeting new faces and making new friends. What I hate is that I was too shy to take pictures with some of the famous bloggers @_@ The next time round, I shall :D.

How the lotion looks like on my skin

Apply a few drops of the lotion onto your palm/cotton wool and pat it onto your face.

For me, I am fine with using either my bare hands or cotton wool. Both works fine but I will suggest the hand as the cotton wool sort of absorbs the lotion thus you have to apply more drops.

The texture is not watery, but a little thicker, yet not sticky. It has a yellowish colour instead of clear.

So far, I've been using it for a few days only. In the mornings, my face doesn't feel dry at all despite sleeping in an air-conditioned room. I do not have any break-outs at all too. I will recommend this to people with dry-skin.

[Review] Sophie Monk's Blackhead Set & Masks

If you do read my blog, I'm sure you've already heard of Sophie Monk. I've blogged about Sophie Monk before here. Makiyo came to Singapore to promote Sophie Monk earlier this month. Did you get to see her? It was a pity I didn't as I was unable to make it.

I am sure 99% of you have issues with blackheads/whiteheads! Lucky if you don't have them.

According to dermatology.about.com,

Blackheads, also known as open comedones, are follicles that have a wider than normal opening. They are filled with plugs of sebum and sloughed-off cells and have undergone a chemical reaction resulting in the oxidation of melanin. This gives the material in the follicle the typical black color.

Whiteheads, also known as closed comedones, are follicles that are filled with the same material, but have only a microscopic opening to the skin surface. Since the air cannot reach the follicle, the material is not oxidized, and remains white.

Just reading about the blackheads already made me feel disgusted since I've got so quite a number of blackheads.

There're so many beauty products in the market that claim to fight blackheads/whiteheads but are not really effective. I'm going to review about this Bye Bye Blackhead set to see if it really works.

This 3-step process of the Strawberry Bye Bye Blackhead set softens and removes blackheads and whiteheads, as well as tightens pores.

The sweet-smelling strawberry blackhead mask absorbs deep into pores to clean out oil and dirt, removing blackheads and dead skin cells instantly.

1) cleanse your face to get rid of any surface dirt.

2) Take 2-3 drops of the deep serum softener and massage gently on the affected area.

For me, my affected area is my nose.

I did some highlighting on photoshop to let you all see my blackheads clearly because the original picture does not show my blackheads clearly. Refer to the small and darker picture. Yeah, see the tiny dull dots on my nose? That's my blackheads! Blackheads are one of my worst enemies.

3) Apply sufficient amount of mask on the desired area.

Depending on the amount of mask you need, squeeze out a sufficient amount and apply it on the desired area. The mask has a creamy and smooth texture. When you apply it on, you can smell the strawberry scent! There is also a mild cooling sensation.

This is how my nose looks after the application of the Sebum Purifying Mask.

4) Wait patiently for 20-30 minutes after applying the mask on.

Finally, the mask hardens! Here's a tip for you. I suggest that you do not apply it too thin as it will not be easy to peel off when it hardens. Do not apply it too thick too as it will take a much longer time to dry up. Of course, a thicker mask would mean it would be easier to peel.

5) After the mask hardens, always peel the mask from bottom to top.

It is neater and easier that way too imo.

These 2 pictures were taken at different spots in the house in the same day of application that's why the colour differs. I could not see all the gross blackheads on the original picture due to the strong lightings so I used highlighting in photoshop to make them more obvious. I used the same settings 20% highlighting and 65% tonal width on both pictures so that it would be more fair to compare.

(Please ignore my nose facial nose hair thank you very much)

Notice that my blackheads have become significantly lesser? (That's not my boogie on the after picture! It's the residue left from the mask) I'd say my blackheads have decreased around 50%. I think it plucked out some of the fine hair on my nose too :P

6) Lastly, apply the Pore Treatment Essence.

Clear liquid. It will not be sticky so don't worry about not washing it away after application.

I like how I can peel the whole thing off in 1 piece and it does not break. It is also not painful at all! In fact, it is quite shiok to peel off and best if you can see your blackheads/whiteheads on the pink thing!! Sense of satisfaction ;) This is really a neat process too. While applying the mask, you can smell strawberries throughout the 20-30 minutes. So nice right? Say byebye to painful squeezing of blackheads already.

Bye bye blackheads!! Off you go!!!

I've tried out 2 masks... The scent is really nice-smelling!

Whitening Mask: (my mum tried this)

she could feel that her complexion became 'brighter' after 1 use. There is concentrated whitening and moisturizing essence. This is recommended for people who is finding whitening types of masks.

Pore Minimizing Mask:

It cleanses deeply and tightens pores from inside out. Apply once and you'll get clean and refreshing pores. I do find that my pores are minimized a little and they appear to be cleaner as well. This mask will control oil secretion. Say bye to acne and pimples because oiliness and clogged pores result in acne!

V-shaping Mask:
This is my favourite!!! I'm not sure if my eyes are playing a trick on me but I do feel that the fats on the side of my face has been reduced, like at least 1 cm lesser. Of course, you'll need regular use of this in order to maintain right? So I'm going to stock up! If you have tried this, please tell me if it works for you!

I did not rinse the excess liquid on my face off. Just massage and pat it gently on your face and let it absorb into your skin. Wash it off the next day when you wake up. I can feel that my skin is fully moisturized throughout the night despite sleeping in a air-conditioned room.

Breaking social norms

We were supposed to break social norms as homework for my social psychology class. It was really "fun"!

Often, we want to fit into society so we don't do things against the norms. How do we define norms exactly since norms differ from country to country and culture to culture?

The first social norm that we broke was to read a magazine upside down in public places. It was really awkward and uncomfortable because people (usually aunties) will be staring at you as if you're crazy.

The next norm to break is a gender norm. Guys, if you dare, wear lipstick or a skirt out and see how society judges you! In Scotland, men wear skirts and it is perfectly fine. In Singapore, if you're a male and you wear a skirt out, be prepared to see yourself on STOMP. I wore this weird looking mustache (super sticky) and walked from Dhoby Ghaut to Somerset. As expected, there were stares and I could hear people saying, "wah mustache, so PRETTY!" sarcastically. It was really embarrassing and I felt uneasy throughout the process. These reactions were expected because it is socially demanded of females to have no unwanted facial hair i.e. mustache.

I know my mustache looks extremely fake and out of place because of its colour (the black one is more expensive lol) but imagine if you see a male walking past with the same mustache compared to a female wearing it, who will garner more attention? Obviously the female!

A beautiful Mind Movie Review

I've just completed the movie A Beautiful Mind (2001).

The movie is about this young prodigy, John Nash, who has paranoid schizophrenia and it was only only discovered many years later after he was married. The reason why I watched it was because it was a homework for one of our psychology modules. I didn't know it was inspired by a true story (though not a literal representation) until I saw the ending.

It is really heart wrenching to see how painful it is for one to go through a mental illness. What if one day you realize that the important moments you have been through are unreal? It's akin to you going through hell knowing that it's simply a figment of your imagination. The mind is really such a powerful tool. It can make or break you.

This movie has grossed over $313 million worldwide, and went on to win four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress! Impressive isn't it? I will recommend this 2hours 25 minutes long movie to you if you do have the free time to watch it.

Singapore Kindness Movement Campaign 2011

A Gracious Singapore, one kind act at a time!

On the 13th November, I was invited to participate in the Singapore Kindness Movement Campaign 2011. This event is part of promoting the World Kindness Day 2011.

After changing into the tee-shirt provided, we gathered and waited for the media briefing to start.

After the briefing, we proceeded outside and I was awed by the scene. 500 volunteers all slowing gathering in front of the stage. All united as one :)

and Daniel Ong appeared! He was the host of this event and he also claimed that he was the kindest host haha!

Volunteers held up their yellow gerbera daisies while the media and reporters were snapping photos away.

We walked from Ion Orchard down to Mandarin Gallery and we went to other places such as the stretch out side Heeren, Paragon and Knightsbridge to give out these daisies to strangers. It feels really good to give without expecting any returns.

Often, we are too caught up with expecting to receive only that we never really thought of giving because we thought we would be happier that way. That's not always the case!

My Nuffnang Story

It all started out as me trying to earn some cash by placing the Nuffnang advertisement on the sidebar of my blog.

It was quite a number of months later in August 2009 where I participated in my very first Nuffnang Movie Contest, G-force! I did not think I would win a pair of tickets, I just blogged about it because I genuinely wanted to watch the movie so why not, no harm blogging;) To my surprise.. I won tickets to the movie!! I was so happy because it was my first time participating in the movie contest so I did not think it would be so easy for me to win the tickets. But I did :)

That was my very first Nuffnang movie event.................. and I started to participate in more and more movie events!

Free movies just by blogging. How awesome?

In December 2009, I was invited to this mini Nuffnang Christmas gathering party at K Suite. My first time at K Suite and it was pretty cool :D

I invited Clifford along as my guest! :) I remembered that day, I rushed to the event after school and at that time, I had not learnt how to put make-up yet. Cui max! Everyone was dressed up for the event and I wasn't -.- There was this ice-breaking game at the start, pool games, Karaoke, game station.. it was so fun and enjoyable! I will never forget it as it was my first Nuffnang gathering event.

I made new friends there and I was so glad I went for it.

Then, they announced the creation of Glitterati Plus and that was how I became part of G+ bloggers!

Sentosa Spooktacular last Halloween

It was so fun. I've always wanted to go to Halloween events like these but it was not really affordable for me. I was glad that I was given this opportunity by Nuffnang to attend this for free. It was indeed an eye-opener ;)

I was having internship at that period of time so I went straight from work! I was so excited that I could not concentrate during work :P Still having braces hehe. Yeah, Nuffnang has "accompanied" me through my braces journey as well!

Blogging with Nuffnang has allowed me to learn so much things, made so many new friends and I am really glad and thankful for the opportunities to attend these G+ events. It has created so many good memories for me throughout my journey with Nuffnang. My life became more happening as a result!

Through attending social events, I have learnt to open up myself too and become a more sociable person. Well, if you know me for a long time, you will know that I am a quiet and soft-spoken person by nature. I do love to meet new people so I am glad that I have become more of a people-person now :)

In the late afternoon, CC and I went for the Samantha Vegas x Ettusais Halloween party. They had 10% discount coupon for Samantha Thavasa but I did not get anything. There was also a coupon for a free cat eye makeover by Ettusais but I did not went for that either. I even jokingly asked CC to go for it and he agreed. He backout in the end though.

We had Coco Ichibanya for dinner. I had the pork cutlet with cheese curry rice. They were really generous with the cheese and I think it makes a good combination for cheese + curry lovers.

After dinner, we went to the flea market at Scape and CC finally got his beads (and is very extremely protective of it).

In Cineleisure, there was this bunch of people in Halloween costumes giving out this Scream Stopper.

Anyone tried or seen this before? I think it's really cute lol. I haven't tried it yet. I wonder how it will work :/ No, we did not use it conveniently for museum of horrors haha.

After that, we proceeded to Scape Auditorium for Museum of Horrors.

CHUCKY, the killer doll! Have you watched any Chucky movies before? It was one of my childhood movies (thinking back, I am amazed by my courage!). I remembered I was a "fan" of Chucky. I caught every show and I even watched it a few times on dvd. I was scared but I just wanted to watch it. If I am not wrong, Chucky had a pregnant girlfriend and she gave birth right?

This guy was sitting down there like a statue and suddenly he jumped up, charged forward to the people around him and screamed. Many people jumped! I was not a victim of his screams *phew*

There was someone who totally screamed into my ears so I decided to play along and calmly said, "ah!" before literally giving him a jump. Pun intended.

There was this fun house too. It was a 3D experience and an eye-opener! They had transformed the stage into a trail where we walked through from one end to the other. We wore these 3D glasses throughout and there were people scaring us by screaming and suddenly appearing as soon as we walked around the corners. Scream-factor always works, not because it's scary but because the voice is so loud and deafening that we could not help but be taken aback. Fortunately, CC was always in front of me so he was the one who got scared and jumped up!

Simple directions to follow.

You can pump the cleansing oil onto your palm. For me, I pumped it onto the cotton wool because I always find that this is easier for me to wipe off my makeup.

Notice how clean it is? No trace of eyeliner left! It doesn't look oily either because it is water soluble and thus, does not leave an unpleasant greasy feeling.

When I was using X brand, my vision was blurred by the oiliness and I had to wash my face twice because it was too oily.

You can pump the cleansing oil onto your palm as directed. I tried this method too ;)

I gently massage onto my eye area. The left eye makeup has been removed by the cotton wool but I just want to make sure that my lower lash line is really clean so I massaged a little to get rid of 100% of the makeup.

Check out the comparison! I noticed that my left eye was significantly cleaner than my right eye due to the cotton wool. The next time, I will just use the cotton wool to massage and clean off the makeup instead of massaging it with my bare hands. As you can see, it is quite messy. Maybe it's just me!

Next, I wet my face to emulsify the cleansing oil. Then, I simply rinse my face thoroughly with water. Just see how clean my eyes are. No blurred vision due to oiliness!

I love how it does not leave any greasy residue, stickiness or dryness on my face after cleansing. Thumbs up for it being water soluble!

Faithful to Hada Labo's 'PERFECT X SIMPE' philosophy, it does not contain Mineral Oil (unlike other cleansing oils in the market) which is harmful to the skin and clogs pores.

Hada Labo also has another Hydrating Make-up Remover in the range that is water‐based to remove light make-up. It contains 2 types of Hyaluronic Acid, normal and Super Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate while it cleanses.

I love how the ribbon compliments the entire look and also the criss-cross on top which has an added "oomph" factor to the whole stockings!

The picture taken was my first time pairing that pair of dr martens with the stockings. If you do own Dr Martens, you will know how stiff they are for a brand new pair. Well, I was prepared to have my stockings scratched due to the abrasion of the hard surface but guess what, they were not!

I'm definitely going to restock my stockings there soon. You pay for what you get :) This is going for $15.90 only. Do you know that it is 40 denier only, yet you get such good quality! Usually, the more sheer the stockings, the more it is prone to scratches right? Well, not the case for this :)

For me, I match a grey top with shorts to go with the grey socks. This is suitable for school if you don't want to go over the top with knee-high socks or fancy stockings.

Another outfit I put together! This time round, I sort of randomly mix and match my outfit. The spiky shoes do look a tad intimidating so I wore the stockings to soften the look.

My first Dye Project

Hi people. If you have followed me on twitter closely, you would have known that I dyed my tees and shorts! This is my first attempt on dyeing clothes and I was having a lot of fun even though the process was messy.

TA-DA!!

For this experiment, I used purple and green dye. I really love the ombre looking effect and the overall look! I was very excited about the outcome and I am indeed very satisfied with it. After all, this is a beginner's try at it so not too bad right?

I redyed the purple part because I missed a spot and it still had the original denim colour (my bad). I was trying to create the rugged look at first (uneven patches) but after the re-touching up, the patches were barely noticable anymore.

I love the shredded part too. It's so easy, you can just grab a pair of scissors or a penknife to create the shredded effects. It will become more apparent after few washes.

Fright Fest @ Singapore Flyer

As we walked on.. there were a stretch of ancestral tablets.

I was so shocked when I viewed this photo on the laptop. There were so many orbs especially at the black part. Dead scary! I showed Wendy this photo and she told me she saw a face (slightly above and between the first two tablets if you would like to spot it and you can't). Feel free to zoom in (clickable) if you dare. I actually went to enlarge it but the face just disappeared. Well, I will like to think that our eyes are playing tricks on us and I hope the orbs are just particles in the air or something that Science can explain. Don't you think it is kind of creepy?

Oh well, best not to think too much (I already did urgh).

After the trail, we went onboard the Singapore Flyer. It was my second time there. The first time was 3 years ago where many places surrounding the Singapore Flyer were under construction so there were not much to see. This time round, the experience was definitely better.

The Calm Jump-shot

This picture was taken when we went to Timbre. We decided to try jump shots and this was our first try. Xueling was not in it because she was trying to adjust the self-timer.

I think it's very funny and unglam at the same time HAHAHAHA! I do look like I am floating above the ground right? :P

When I saw this photo, I got reminded of Kang Gary in Running Man. He ALWAYS has this calm expression no matter what, especially in jump shots!! Too funny!

Review: Amethystory

Today, I'm going to introduce to you what amethystory is. The name is derived from the gemstone, Amethyst!

As quoted from The Sample Store Blog,

Amazing how much it can do isn't it? I thought so too. But what will the product actually do for me? I'm going to find out for myself.

Mineral Aqua Gel (150ml, $24.90)

Milky gel-like texture

Just pump out the amount you desire and apply it on any parts of your body. You can use it to exfoliate areas such as the heel of your feet, underarm, elbows.etc, anywhere!

For me, I tried it on my face. After pumping out a sufficient amount, I gently massage it around my face.

Here are the dead skin layers on my palm! I just rinse my face with water after use and I do feel that my face has become brighter and smoother after that. Hello to newborn skin!

Mineral Aqua Whitening Enhancer (150ml, $19.90)

This product is used to boost the hydration and whitening of skin and to enhance the penetration of the other skincare products you use for full absorption. This is just like a skin booster!

It contains hyaluronic acid which provides intense hydration and tranexamic acid which helps to fight dark spots and lightens complexion for a radiant glow. Use it regularly for better skin rejuvenation and a fairer, radiant and youthful glow!

Clear liquid

I tried this at night. After cleansing my face, I pumped out a sufficient amount of it onto my palm. Next, I gently pat them onto my face so that it can be absorbed into my skin. My skin has this really refreshing feeling after application. Then I went to bed.

After washing my face, I find that my face feels really hydrated. So far, all of my facial wash products that I have used do not have this "hydrating" after effect. I am not even exaggerating but my skin does feel like it just "drank water" lol!

Yeah! Besides the usual coffee, tea.etc, there is also Passion Fruit too!!

I'm sure this dish is a hot favourite in Fish & Co. I love Fish & Chips so this is one of my favourite choices in the student menu.

Basically, that's Fish & Chips on a bun served in a different way from the usual Fish & Chips (: Very creative way of presenting the fish & chips!

Steve Jobs has such great charisma that even 'if' the newest iPhone may not one of the best phones, people will still buy it. Because it's an Apple product! Because it's Steve Jobs! The death of Steve Jobs has indeed shocked me. He knew he was near his end (which not many people who are dying can accept the reality) so he stepped down and made plans which was a very brave and wise move.

Life is short? Nah. However, there's a limit to your time so don't waste your life living it the way people expect you to live. Whatever other people think of you, let it be. It's not their opinions that matter anyway.

When I first saw the trailer of Real Steel in the cinemas, I knew I had to watch it! Think high-tech boxing among humanoid robots, not to forget the main lead of the movie, Hugh Jackman!

If I have a robot, the main function my robot must have is to COOK!

Why?

Because I can't cook but I love eating home cooked food hehe ^^V I can picture my robot storing thousands of recipes within and I get to eat what I want to eat because my robot will be programmed to know how to cook anything in the world. So awesome right. Also, the robot will be able to cook dishes that require really long time like eg. Buddha jump over the wall in just 1 hour. HAHAHA. The robot will also not be afraid of getting scald and I don't need to see the robot's mood whether the robot got mood to cook or not!

I am really fantasizing now -.-

Anyway, love robots? Then you must catch this movie!

Exam results are out and I hope you are all satisfied with it! If you are not, then do something about it by working extra hard for the next semester. It is never too late. Results are not everything! Also, don't take for granted your good results. Nothing comes easy. There's a price to pay for every sacrifice :)

Sypnosis of the movie:

CC and I went to the zoo on Monday because there is free entry for August babies in celebration of the National day.

Luckily the weather was not hot that day but rather cooling. I do not have a habit of putting on sunblock so phew! ;) Poor CC was sunburnt during the weekend and today, he is still as red as ever :/

I've watched Final Destination 5 already. It sucks. FD4 is better although it's not that nice. FD3 is better than FD4 too. I wonder if there will still be a FD6? If there is, I don't think I will even bother watching it for free. The whole idea of this final destination thing is getting stale and old. If you're going to watch FD5, I'll advise you not to waste your money unless you have low expectations of the movie and don't mind walking out of the cinema with disappointment.
